Corpus Christi is a charming port city that caters as much to business as it does to tourism. Its history dates back to the Roman Catholic Feast Day of 1519, when Spanish explorer Alonzo Alvarez de Pineda discovered the semi-tropical bay of Corpus Christi. Since then, Corpus Christi has become a regional center for the marketing and distribution of agricultural commodities and boasts a local economy largely driven by tourism as well as oil and petrochemical industries. The hotel in Corpus Christi is close to everything, including the airport, the beach and many shopping districts. Other nearby attractions include the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington Museum, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History as well as the Harbor Playhouse, a long-running community theatre with a history of quality local productions. The city's Heritage Park features 11 Victorian homes including the Cultural Center, which operates in the 100-year-old Galván House.Corpus Christi is a fun, interesting place to visit.
