The hotel is located in the heart of Hakone, right next to the Hakone shrine. It stands on the shore of Lake Ashi. It takes 45 minutes by bus from JR Odawara station where bullet trains (Shinkansen) stop or 30 minutes from Hakone-Yumoto station on Odakyu Line that directly leads from Shinjuku, Tokyo. Also public bus directly runs from Shinjuku station in Tokyo to Hakone in 150 minutes. Hakone-en, one of the major sightseeing points in Hakone, is 5 minutes by taxi from the hotel.All room are large and facing Lake Ashi. The room is decorated in chic style with wooden furniture. The bathroom is medium size.There is a French restaurant on the ground floor with wide-opened windows facing the lake Ashi. In summer, the hotel provides some seats on the outside terrace , where fresh gentle breeze blows from the lake. There is a lounge on the ground floor offering coffee, cakes and cocktails in front of the fireplace.It is a 4-storey white building, which looks like a European guest house.It is small with some sitting space and wooden floor.This is one of the oldest resort hotels in Japan and it use to be a country house of an old Japanese baron.
