For over 3 centuries, it was one of the region's foremost religious centres. Since 2010, award-winning architect Eduardo Souto Moura headed a project to rebuild the convent, whilst retaining as many of the original features as possible.It's a 4-minute drive to the Tavira city centre, which has many restaurant options, featuring the local fish and seafood-based gastronomy. There is a wide range of restaurants, bars, and shops within a short walking distance.It overlooks the secular salt marshes of Ria Formosa.
